Dr Birute Galdikas from the jungles of Borneo is coming to Newcastle in August as part of National Science Week. She, along with Jane Goodall and Dian Fossey, is one of Louis Leakey’s Trimates.

Dr Galdikas has spent the last 50 years researching the biology of orangutans Her efforts have played a major role in saving the wild orangutan from extinction.  She is a living legend and a role model for women in science.
