Hunter Science Festival 2024

Hunter Science Festival flyer

The Hunter Science Festival held at Newcastle Museum as part of National Science Week was a resounding success again this year.   Hunter Innovation and Science Hub collaborated with City of Newcastle and Newcastle Museum to bring this free science fun and hands on experience to nearly 4000 kids and families over 4 hours.

Some of the activities included:

  • Two exciting ‘Science of Bushfire’ Shows by Fizzics Education
  • Mini Electric Vehicles – kids and kids at heart built and tested mini electric solar cars
  • HMRI’s Poo Palace – physically voyage through the digestive journey
  • Hands-on activities hosted by Hunter Water – exploring our most precious resource
  • CLEANaS who had a bicycle kids could ride to produce energy to light up different lightbulbs.  The kids loved that so much that they had to stay an extra hour after the festival officially finished to work though all the kids who were waiting in line to have a go.
  • Expo stalls presented by other HISH member organisations including FabLab who brought some super cool robots and Hunter Earth Sciences Discussion Group who had a huge double-table display with rocks and fossils to touch and lots of information to give away.

Well done all!
